Allthough I have described this as a Beshir Turkoman carpet this is not strictly correct. About 10 years ago there was a limited production of ancient Turkoman designs by some of the finest weavers in Afghanistan.This is one of those pieces and is an example of some of the finest and tightest wool on wool weaving in the present day.The design is a classic Turkoman design featuring the alma gul or apple blossom design.The weavers of this carpet are reputed to be Hazaras and not Turkoman.Fantastic piece.

Khan Mohamidi carpets are city production carpets originating in the town of Masar N.E. Afghanistan.They are now made throughout the main weaving centres of Afghanistan.The designs are mainly influenced by caucasion and Turkoman designs but really all influences of Afghan design can feature in this production.Usual colours are a burnt orange red and indigo with old gold appearing frequently.

This is a very unusual tribal carpet. Large Ersari guls dominate the main field of the carpet even the secondary guls are large,The carpet is pure karaquol wool and veg dyes throughout the piece. wool on wool construction.This carpet is in perfect condition with full pile.Some dealers would class this carpet as Beluch but my gut feeling is that it is Ersari Turkmen.Any suggestions to the exact origins of this carpet are welome!!

This is the second of two Dali carpets available woven in the 1980's from the village of Dali on the Amu Dayra river.Very strong heavy carpet and typical of its type.This carpet is a brighter red than the other one.
