Fantastic old Aranji or Salar rug from the Sherbeghan area.This is an original piece in veg dyes and evenly reduced pile.Dusky mauve field with saffron yellow, indigo and nice abrash.This rug is unusual in that it has the Tekke "sunburst" border although I am convinced it is Aranji (sub-clan of the Ersari).I may be wrong but this piece may be as old as C1900.
