Fantastic old Aranji or Salar rug from the Sherbeghan area.This is an original piece in veg dyes and evenly reduced pile.Dusky mauve field with saffron yellow, indigo and nice abrash.This rug is unusual in that it has the Tekke "sunburst" border although I am convinced it is Aranji (sub-clan of the Ersari).I may be wrong but this piece may be as old as C1900.

Just arrived. Very old Taghan Ersari Turkmen mid carpet.These are identified by their unique colour combinations with dark indigo contrasting with light indigo.This can be seen in the secondary guls of this carpet as a diagonal towards one end.Condition is good for age with reduced pile in some places.The design is very lively with a good balance between Main guls and boder motifs.A very rare carpet.

Nice old Ersari Chobash main carpet at least 80 years old. lovely brick red field also old bottle green and saffron yellow.This carpet has reduced pile and 2 small repairs that are hardly noticable.Nice velvety feel to this carpet.Chobash carpets are unusual Afghan carpets in that they have white in the quadrant of the main guls.

Very fine Tekke Turkoman Enssi carpet from Turkmenistan in fantastic condition.This carpet has rings sewn into the back of it suggesting it was always hung on the wall rather than the floor.Who ever owned this before was hanging it upside down?Great piece.

Attractive Ersari prayer rug in natural colours (reduced ends that have been stopped)

Allthough I have described this as a Beshir Turkoman carpet this is not strictly correct. About 10 years ago there was a limited production of ancient Turkoman designs by some of the finest weavers in Afghanistan.This is one of those pieces and is an example of some of the finest and tightest wool on wool weaving in the present day.The design is a classic Turkoman design featuring the alma gul or apple blossom design.The weavers of this carpet are reputed to be Hazaras and not Turkoman.Fantastic piece.

This is a very unusual tribal carpet. Large Ersari guls dominate the main field of the carpet even the secondary guls are large,The carpet is pure karaquol wool and veg dyes throughout the piece. wool on wool construction.This carpet is in perfect condition with full pile.Some dealers would class this carpet as Beluch but my gut feeling is that it is Ersari Turkmen.Any suggestions to the exact origins of this carpet are welome!!

This is the second of two Dali carpets available woven in the 1980's from the village of Dali on the Amu Dayra river.Very strong heavy carpet and typical of its type.This carpet is a brighter red than the other one.
