Antique comes from the Latin “antiquus” meaning old or ancient and describes art objects that are usually collectible. For the purpose of items in this section, the word antique has been applied to rugs that are at least seventy years old and older. We are one of the main suppliers of ukantiquerugs.
Here is a very rare Mokhari julkirs rug made by the Pashtun people of S.E. Afghanistan. The weaving is reminiscent of Tibetan loop weaving. The function of this piece is debatable as it is too short for a sleeping rug so I believe it has been made as a “sitting” rug.

Lovely antique cross stitch Uzbek Lakai Segusa. A Segusa is a weaving that is hung in front of a pile of weavings as a good luck amulet.
Antique Baluch prayer rug Kawdani from North Afghanistan. Very fine with a camel ground and featurung the old curled leaf border. (Needs a small repair in the selvedge top right but generally in very good condition.)

This piece has a superb design balance featuring a large chequerboard elim at the bottom containing five large quincunx motifs in cotton.Dyes are madder indigo and a nice bottle green and horse hair fringe.
